Overview

The primary function of this position is to deliver high quality service to our members. This includes identifying members’ needs and offering Meritrust products and services.

Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Greets members in a courteous, professional manner. Present a positive image of the Credit Union through a professional appearance and positive attitude
  • Maintains confidentiality in all Credit Union and member matters
  • Follows safety and security policies and regulations, making exceptions when appropriate
  • Determines, meets and solves members’ needs, problems and conflicts over the phone. Follow up when appropriate.
  • Actively sells and cross-sells Credit Union products and services through face to face and phone contact within the guidelines of the established sales program.
  • Meets set goals for cross sales, product penetration, services per household, ancillary products, investment services, and any other sales and service goals and objectives.
  • Creates a climate which makes customers feel valued and respected.
  • Thoroughly researches member accounts to evaluate how Meritrust can better serve them.
  • Uses time effectively; is creative and adept at utilizing small blocks of “slow time” to best advantage
  • Opens new Membership accounts and other Deposit Accounts, excluding IRAs. Order checks, complete account maintenance, and processing updates or deletions to existing member accounts.
  • Reviews, processes and closes estate, trust and deceased-member accounts
  • Performs basic teller functions
  • Interviews loan applicants and review credit reports for cross-sell opportunities and credit evaluation.
  • Understands and is able to communicate all Meritrust online and remote services
  • Understands and is able to communicate Shared Branching to members.
  • Account research
  • Order/Block debit and credit cards
  • Assists members with online banking
  • Makes corrections and refunds on accounts when necessary, not to exceed the amount of two Insufficient Funds fees
  • Processes stop payments and lien releases.
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor
  • Completion of annual Mertrust education and development program

Qualifications

  • Sales experience preferred
  • Previous financial institution experience preferred. Knowledge of principles and practices of a financial institution.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate applicable PC programs necessary for job function
  • High School diploma or equivalent
