  • Overview

    The primary function of this position is to deliver high quality service to our members. This includes identifying members’ needs and offering Meritrust products and services.

    Responsibilities

    The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

    • Able to perform Teller I and Teller II duties and responsibilities (see job descriptions) plus the following:
    • Opens new Membership accounts and other Deposit Accounts, excluding IRAs. Order checks, complete account maintenance, and processing updates or deletions to existing member accounts.
    • Actively sells and cross-sells Credit Union products and services through face to face and phone contact within the guidelines of the established sales program.
    • Meets set goals for cross sales, product penetration, services per household, ancillary products, investment services, and any other sales and service goals and objectives.
    • Creates a climate which makes members feel valued and respected.
    • Thoroughly researches member accounts to evaluate how Meritrust can better serve them.
    • Uses time effectively; is creative and adept at utilizing small blocks of “slow time” to best advantage.
    • Interviews loan applicants and reviews credit reports for credit evaluation and cross-sell opportunities. Understand loan stipulations. Presents consumer loan documentation to member for appropriate signatures.
    • Compiles and maintains fraud and forgery files
    • Provides Notary Service for members
    • Researches accounts for deposit, withdrawal and loan payment discrepancies
    • Makes corrections and refunds on accounts when necessary, not to exceed the amount of two Insufficient Funds charges
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
    • Completion of annual Meritrust education and development program

    Qualifications

    • Sales experience of at least one year preferred
    • Previous financial institution experience of at least one year preferred, including cash handling and member service
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of a financial institution
    • Excellent oral communication skills
    • Ability to operate applicable PC programs necessary for job function
    • High School diploma or equivalent
