  • Overview

    The primary responsibilities of the Director of Marketing are to provide management and leadership, strategy, and day to day oversight of the marketing department.  Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic marketing plans and ensure successful execution.  Ensure results of marketing efforts are in line with industry standards and goals are attained within budgets.  The individual in this role oversees building of external relationships with vendors, agencies and the media within each of our markets.

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Marketing Initiatives

    • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive strategic marketing plan, supporting a robust communications and public relations program to enhance the organization’s image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications.
    • Develops annual marketing/advertising budget to support the strategic plan.  Monitors the tracking and analysis of expenditures and campaign results to assess the success of strategies, and implements modifications to better enhance marketing efforts and optimize the return on investment.
    • Manages relationships with external partners, agencies, vendors and the media. 
    • Responsible for creating relationships and coordinating media buys across all markets.
    • Regularly seek input from key organizational leaders to ensure marketing plan and execution is meeting expectations across various platforms.

     Brand Management

    • Leads in the development of strategic positioning for the Meritrust brand to differentiate our presence in the minds of consumers and members.
    • Serves as the chief brand ambassador.  Influences, inspires and motivates across all functions and levels of the organization to bring the brand promise to life and makes it real for our employees, members, and communities.
    • Ensure articulation of organization’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the organization and to all constituencies, both internal and external.
    • Vigilantly analyzes consumer and member expectations and preferences.  Identifies where we need to make adjustments to ensure we fulfill consumer expectations and messaging which aligns to our brand identity. 
    • Ensure articulation of organization’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the organization and to all constituencies, both internal and external.

     Integrated Digital Marketing Management

    • Provides direction and management for integrated digital marketing strategies across all digital platforms, including the credit union’s website, internal and external digital advertising and online and mobile banking.
    • Directs ecommerce initiatives to enhance the visitor experience, generate web traffic, create and nurture leads and drive new memberships and cross sales.
    • Oversees the design, content and monitoring of all social media, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Instagram, etc.

     Research and Performance Analytics

    • Oversee team’s efforts to research, analyze, and monitor financial technological and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and make product, pricing and delivery system recommendations.
    • Monitor all marketing programs, advertising campaigns, promotions and delivery systems for compliance with credit union policies as well as industry regulation.
    • Evaluate market reactions to advertising programs, as well as merchandising tactics to ensure timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
    • Prepares marketing activity reports for management; including, but not limited to marketing trends, environmental scans, new member campaigns, track reports on member behavior as related to product usage or signing up for new services.
    • Validates ROI for marketing/advertising campaigns utilizing appropriate quantitative analytics ensuring objectives are achieved and within designated budget.

     Team Leadership

    • Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, ensuring positive employee moral 
    • Lead, train, guide and motivate, and encourage the Meritrust marketing team to grow and develop through engaging team practices and interactions.
    • Coordinates and participates in annual review process, staff promotions, hiring, transfers and other management functions.

     Communication and Community Outreach

    • Act as Meritust’s representative to ensure appropriate and timely responses to media requests and coordinate media interest in the organizations activities.
    • Coordinate the creation of publications, media relations, and member acquisition campaigns and organizational material such as letterhead, use of logo, and brochures adhering to Meritrust’ standards.
    • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all Meritrust publications.
    • Leads projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.
    • Represent the credit union in the community, participate in business development events.
    • Network with other professionals to stay informed of developments and best practices in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, not-for-profit management and governance.

     

    Qualifications

    • BS/BA degree in Marketing or Communications with 5 to 8 years of experience leading a marketing team, developing, directing and executing marketing strategies in a financial services environment. 
    • Strong background in financial services marketing and promotion techniques, including positioning, brand awareness and promotion/advertising with a thorough understanding of credit union products and services.
    • Advanced knowledge of marketing practices, concepts and regulations across various media, strong expertise in the areas of digital marketing and understanding of new member acquisition through these channels.
    • Demonstrated experience in building a performance oriented team and coaching for results.
    • In-depth understanding of credit union financial drivers; skilled at interpreting and making decisions from financial statements.
    • Expert knowledge of digital marketing function and methodologies for deploying campaigns, measuring and interpreting results through the use of these technologies.
    • Experience establishing and monitoring metrics associated with return on investment of campaign.
    • Superior writing, editing and interpersonal communication skills are required.
    • Experience with corporate internal communication platforms helpful.
    • Proven experience in communicating with media outlets and networks.
    • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and design software such as Photoshop and InDesign in a Mac environment.
